The well-being index of older Koreans has been in the bottom globally, although their life expectancy has remarkably increased over the past four decades. In addition, they have showed the lowest subjective happiness and life satisfaction in Koreans. The social, physical, and productive activities play a significant role in aging well; however, the large majority of today's older Koreans do not participate in these meaningful activities in later life. Under this situation, the purpose of this study is to explore the contemporary older Koreans' perceptions of leisure and aging well and their leisure behavior at Korean senior welfare centers using an individual interview. Four main themes emerge: 1) unfamiliarity with the concept of leisure and leisure engagement; 2) evolving perceptions of Korean senior centers and leisure benefits; 3) limited physical functioning as a major leisure constraint; and 4) significant factors for aging well. From the meaningful findings, implications and recommendations for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers are discussed in this study.
