This study was to examine impacts of residents' place attachment on place identity toward a specified exhibition & convention center (KINTEX, Korea International Exhibition Center). Most research on exhibition & convention centers' characteristics have focused on physical and functional attributes. This study, however, examined place attachment and place identity in fields of social psychology and environmental psychology to present intrinsic and essential place characteristics and values of exhibition & convention centers. Thus, the study was to research the cause and effect between residents' place attachment and place identity toward the exhibition and convention center and variances of place identity, depending on residents¡¯preception level (high vs. low) of place attachment. The study reveals that there is a significant positive relationship between place attachment and three sub-components of place identity (sharing, identification, and distinctiveness); in relation to the perceptional level (high vs. low) of place attachment toward the exhibition & convention center and place identity has significant differences
