The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of exhibitors¡¯ perception of
service recovery on their switching intention and to identify the moderating effect of
switching barriers between service recovery and switching intention. To do this,
questionnaires were collected from 287 exhibitors who participated in the exhibitions
held in Seoul and its vicinity.
The results of the structural analysis revealed that the linkage from service
recovery and switching intention was negative and significant. This results indicated
that improving service recovery level is an effective way to decrease exhibitors¡¯
intention to switch. In addition, findings from a chi-square difference test and
pairwise parameter comparison indicated that switching barriers such as switching
costs and lack of alternatives¡¯ attractiveness moderated the relationships between
service recovery and switching intention. Based on findings, implications are discussed.
