The purpose of study is to provide suggestions for tourism Official Development
Assistance (ODA) in Korea. Tourism ODA has expanded and attracted considerable
attentions from policy makers as well as academia in Korea recently, however only a
few empirical study has been conducted. In order to achieve the purpose, on-line
administrative survey were applied to experts in tourism and international
development cooperation field. The results were derived from analyzing a total of 24
data using the paired-sample t-test and IPA. The findings showed that ‘Building
communication channels between tourism and international development cooperation
experts’, ‘Participating in global discussions of tourism/ODA related sectors’,
‘Tourism ODA professional training’, and ‘Tourism ODA awareness raising
activities’ were needed for promoting tourism ODA. Also, ‘Consulting for tourism
policy making and development planing’, ‘Support for building tourism promotion
agencies’, and ‘Tourism manpower training program’ were suggested comparative
advantage tourism ODA programs in Korea. |
