The purpose of this study is to understand touristrification phenomenon in South
Korea, and to analyze whether there is certain casual structure related to
touristification in social interaction in terms of critical realism, focusing on Seochon,
Seoul. Based on this, theoretical basis and data collection items were drawn to
explain touristification phenomenon of Seochon including bibliographic data,
statistical data, newspaper and reports. Also interviews were conducted by local
residents and tourists. While Seochon received great attention from governors, media
and tourists after Korean House Declaration, touristification has slowly proceeded
and spread dramatically over time during 2012. Major phenomena of touristification
were reduction of the resident population, increase in floating tourists, and increased
real estate investment value due to commercialization and tourist sites conversion.
Value of Seochon as tourism inducement are quiet air and old mood. This study is
meaningful to suggest academic and practical implications in terms of critical
realistic approach and touristification study. |
