The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the competitiveness of three
MICE cities - Seoul, Busan, and Jeju - through attendee satisfaction. The results are
used to propose ways to improve the competitiveness of MICE cities. The population
sample was taking from meeting and convention attendees of Seoul, Busan, and Jeju.
A total of 7,157 responses were gathered from post event surveys. The statistical
analysis of the data was conducted using techniques of frequency analysis, ANOVA
analysis. The findings of the study were as follows: the overall satisfaction of
destinations was found to increase more than the average rate of 4.0, and aside from
subsidiary facilities and tourist attractions, 13 factors were statistically different
based on the destination attendees' satisfaction. Seoul had the highest satisfaction
mark amongst the three MICE cities, whereas the satisfaction for Jeju was in the
middle. Busan had a mix of both high levels and low levels of satisfaction.
In conclusion, aside from Seoul, it is necessary for MICE cities to further reinforce
factors where they are weak in order to strengthen their competitiveness.
