This study aimed at identifying research domain of convention along with its development plan by the Korean Government. Total of 408 articles on convention were collected from 8 different journals specializing tourism and convention: Journal of Tourism Sciences; Journal of Tourism & Leisure Research; Journal of Tourism Studies; International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Research; Korean Journal of Tourism Research; Journal of Tourism Management Research; Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Studies; and Journal of Convention Sciences. Only the titles of the collected articles were analyzed by utilizing Semantic Network Analysis (SNA). According to the application time of pre-, primary, secondary and tertiary International conference industry promotion master plan, each article was classified and the result of SNA showed both similarities and differences among each period. More specifically, all the periods represented and contained the research keywords that reflected the development trends in convention industry. At the same time, they gradually added new research methodologies which cover both quantitative and qualitative method. This study is expected to provide an opportunity to understand convention research in Korean journals and suggests future directions of research topics for convention domain |
